When you find that special someone, should you worship them?

July 23rd, 2007 · 2 Comments

There have been thousands of poems written idolizing and near deifying the objects of the writers affection, but is this a practical practice when in a relationship? The short answer, is no.

The opposite sex, as much as both genders might joke and say, “Oh yeah!” don’t really want to be worshiped, because nobody wants a doormat. Putting someone up on a pedestal isn’t fair to them or to you, so worship is never the way to go.

Ladies and gentleman DO want to feel special, same as guys (it’s like deja vu all over again). No matter the gender, some folks take it to the extremes of worship, until they are smothered by the excessive affection and wind up moving towards the other extreme. Worship definitely comes off as a lack of confidence, and it’s a rare person indeed who finds someone shy more appealing than someone brimming with confidence

So, if you make someone feel special, if you show them they are special to you, then you’ve given that what she wants. This doesn’t mean that you are doing “just enough”, it just means you are maintaining the proper balance of give and take in a relationship. When you take on that idea that he or she is always right and that she can do no wrong; that idea that you can’t say no, that’s when ladies either walk all over you and lose all respect for you.
